Beautiful India

After 26 hours of traveling, we finally arrived!  The kids did so well traveling...I had no reason to be nervous!  Isa played, slept and watched movies and Judsen slept, played...and was his usual cute self.  Paul and I landed much less rested than the kids but nothing a little sleep can't fix!

The hard part of traveling to India is that you leave late at night so you lose a good portion of that first night's sleep (Saturday night) and then, in our case, land on Monday morning in India which means we completely missed Sunday night.  Needless to say, by the time we cleared customs, gathered all our luggage and made it to the hotel, we were all ready for a nap!  We slept quite a bit that first day...probably a little too much but it was that or risk being the most cranky family on earth!

The Khosla Train - Isabel was very strict with the rules -

We're two nights in now and we've just about adjusted to the time change (9.5 hours ahead).  The kids slept great last night.  Judsen had a minor interruption from 3-4am but all things considered, that's wonderful.

We've been laying low and settling in this week.  I don't start in the office until next week so enjoying a little vacation time and getting everyone settled.  The hotel is beautiful and everyone's been so kind ensuring we and the kids have what we need.  I think we're going to like it here:)

The hotel is planning a New Years' Eve party tonight - Samba style!  They were testing out the music last night and I can guarantee one thing...it's going to be loud!  We'll be "enjoying" it from our room...the kids need to get to bed but either way, it'll be fun to ring in the new year from India...a little ahead of schedule.

Let the Adventure Begin!

I had the idea to start a blog to document our India adventure while I was en route so I'll have to back-date my first few entries to get us up to date.  For those of you who know me well, I know what you're thinking...a blog, Diana...really?  I had a blog before...dianakhosla.blogspot.com...if you check it out you'll see that typically blogging and I don't work well but I figure this is a good exception...let's see how I do.  I make no promises other than I will try:)

So let's start on December 27th - Let the Adventure Begin!

It seemed like we were waiting for December 27th forever...the day we would pack up our little family and head off to India on our great adventure.  Why India?  Good question!  In short, I've been working on a project team at Deloitte for a number of years now that is leading our involvement with the firm's off-shoring initiative in India.  During our 10 weeks in India, my responsibilities will vary but essentially I'll be doing whatever needs to be done to help our Canadian audit practice work as effectively as possible with our India teams during the bulk of our "busy season"...as us accountants like to call January to...well...I'm not sure busy season ever really ends but officially it ends around April.

So back to the 27th...we spent the day finishing up our packing and getting ready to go.  Finally, we and our 6 suitcases, 1 pack'n'play, 2 backpacks and 2 carry-ons were ready to go!  A special thanks to the Benwell clan and Paul's brother, Peter, for getting us to the airport and to the Sangsters for hanging out with us all after we checked in.

While we waited to board the plane I was feeling...
...excited - what an opportunity for our little family!
...nervous - traveling with a 3 year-old and a 7 month-old is a daunting task!
...proud - I love my job and I'm proud of my career to date and the new opportunities that were awaiting in India
...blessed...very blessed.  Blessed to work for Deloitte, blessed to have a husband that would press pause in his world to support me, blessed to have kids who are wonderful, flexible and adaptable...simply, blessed.

Farewell Halifax! See you soon...
